The applied hyperspectral service at LKI Consulting is a mixture of expert geological and spectral knowledge and application of industry standard software (including Leapfrog Geo, QGIS, ioGAS, and R) that leads to program-specific and meaningful product generation and delivery.

Applied hyperspectral analysis is a relatively new field. It requires advanced knowledge of spectroscopy and the ability to apply compositional data workflows to spectral data. Our interpretation process integrates both well-defined data interpretation procedures, as well as integration of cutting-edge machine learning algorithms where required. All data undergoes rigorous QA/QC before conducting any data analysis. Data products are developed using 2D and 3D software and are integrated where appropriate with other data sets, such as: geochemistry, mineralogy, metallurgy, and geology.

Orientation Surveys & Survey Design

Before engaging in large-scale hyperspectral programs, it is important to define what the range of mineralogy is at your project.

This is best achieved by constructing a pilot program and working with vendors to develop the project’s mineral library, spectral parameters of interest and any proxies that may be important for ore zone delineation, core logging, metallurgical properties, etc.

Once a mineral library is established, then a larger program that incorporates real time data processing can be planned. As always, determining the objectives of the study and outlining the expected deliverables from both the hyperspectral data vendor, as well as LKI Consulting is essential.

Hyperspectral technologies, such as handheld ASD, line-scan systems and hyperspectral imaging systems, should provide geoscientists with rapid and reliable geochemical profiles of each sample and drill hole that are easily importable to their databases and models.

QA/QC Program Review & Implementation

Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) programs are essential for the success of any hyperspectral program. However, the implementation of an “industry standard” program is often just the beginning of a QA/QC journey, especially because at present, there is no standard hyperspectral QA/QC program.

At LKI Consulting, we can review vendor’s existing hyperspectral QA/QC procedures and develop standard operating procedures (SOP) for your company’s QA/QC program(s). We will also work with your company on the implementation of new programs.
