Data interpretation at LKI Consulting is a mixture of expert geological knowledge, geochemistry data interpretation expertise, and application of industry standard software (including Leapfrog Geo, QGIS, ioGAS, and R) that leads to program-specific and meaningful product generation and delivery.

Our interpretation process integrates both well-defined geochemical interpretation procedures, as well as integration of cutting-edge machine learning algorithms where required. All data undergoes rigorous QA/QC before conducting exploratory data analysis using univariate and multivariate approaches. Data products are developed using 2D and 3D software, and are integrated where appropriate with other data sets, such as mineralogy, metallurgy, and geology.

Effective geochemical programs require a basic understanding of the geological and geochemical environment (including associated geochemical dispersion processes) in which the program is being carried out.

This is best achieved by careful review of available relevant information and through testing field and laboratory conditions in the initial stages of the program. The data acquired helps ensure the development of optimum field, laboratory, and interpretation techniques.

Program planning, in which the practical details of survey procedures and the order in which they are to be applied may then be initiated. Examples of survey parameters that we would be looking to optimize would include (but are not limited to): sample spacing, grain size, sample digestion and finish, sample media, pathfinder elements, and enhancing signal to noise (e.g., anomaly to background contrast).

Geochemical technologies, such as pXRF and XRF scanning systems, should provide geoscientists with rapid and reliable geochemical profiles of each drill hole and sample that are easily importable to their databases and models.

Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) programs are essential for the success of any geochemical program. However, the implementation of an “industry standard” program is often just the beginning of a QA/QC journey.

At LKI Consulting, we can review historic QA/QC data and make recommendations on how to improve data quality. Furthermore, we can develop standard operating procedures (SOP) for your company’s QA/QC program(s) and work with your company on the implementation of new programs.
